VENICE MARATHON
Venice Marathon
Last Sunday in October
Established in 1986, the Venice Marathon (better known as the Venice Marathon) is an absolutely original running race because of the course on which it takes place: along the Riviera del Brenta, amongsplendid historic villas and rich vegetation, finishing in Venice over the classic distance of 42.195 km.
The athletes start from Stra, pass through the coastal towns of Fiesso d'Artico, Dolo, Mira and Oriago, arriving in Mestre where, after crossing the city and San Giuliano Park, they take the Liberty Bridge that leads to Venice.
The athletes pass various bridges over the Venetian canals until theycross the Grand Canal on a 160-meter-long floating bridge specially built for the occasion. They then cross St. Mark's Square to the finish line at Riva dei Sette Martiri.
